In Loving Memory
  David Norman Daniels, Beloved Pastor

         October 28, 1927 - October 6, 2009

Whereas Our beloved Pastor, David Norman Daniels was born in Decatur, Georgia, on October 28, 1927 to Curtis Lester Daniels and Nora Bell Tweedy Daniels, and

Whereas he was a graduate of Emory University and Columbia Theological Seminary, and

Whereas he was a loving and faithful husband to his wife Erlene Marilyn Fanning Daniels, and

Whereas he was a loving father to Alan, Melanie, Beth, Stephanie and Quentin, and a devoted grandfather to all their children and grandchildren, and

Whereas he was ordained to the Ministry of the Word and Sacrament by the Atlanta Presbytery on June 28, 1953, and

Whereas he served congregations in Jonesboro, Georgia; Jacksonville, Florida; and Monroe, Georgia before coming to Mississippi, and

Whereas he was a faithful and active member of the Presbytery of South Mississippi from 1963 until 1986, and of the Presbytery of Mississippi from 1986 until his death, and

Whereas he was the installed pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Port Gibson from 1963 until 1996, serving the longest tenure of any pastor of that congregation, and

Whereas Mr. Daniels served as stated supply of the Yokena Presbyterian Church from 1965 until his death, and

Whereas he served as commissioner to the 108th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, U.S., and as a commissioner to the 196th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), and

Whereas he was an instructor in the Bible and Ethics at Chamberlain-Hunt Academy from 1964 until 1991, also serving the Academy as Chaplain and as a member of the Board of Trustees for many of those years, and

Whereas he always maintained his unswerving loyalty to the Lord Jesus Christ and to the Presbytery of Mississippi, even during the years when many ministers and congregations departed from us, and

Whereas on October 6, 2009, he joined the Church Triumphant, entering into the joy of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,

Be it Therefore Resolved that the Session of Yokena Presbyterian Church, meeting on October 15, 2009, give gratitude to God for the Rev. David N. Daniels’ many years of service to the Lord Jesus Christ, that this memorial be entered into the minutes of the Session of Yokena Presbyterian Church, that this memorial be added to our Church website and that a copy of this memorial be provided to members of his family
